02 Dec What is “Toxic Positivity”?
I’ve been dealing with a lot of toxic positivity these days so I thought I’d share what it is.
This article explains it very well
For those dealing with depression, it’s ok to not be ok. Hearing how you should just stop feeling bad and be more positive doesn’t help – I’m well aware. It does get better, but it takes time and support.
For those that want to be supportive, listening is the more supportive thing you could do. Forcing someone to mask their feelings to be more positive will only make them feel more inferior. There’s nothing wrong with feeling bad, in fact, it’s normal. What’s wrong, is acting like everything is ok when it’s not.
